Perhaps a bit embarrassing, but for some reason I had issues figuring out how to do this a while back and had to look it up. Turns out that it was very easy, but since I actually had to search for it, I figured others might end up here as well, so I decided to write this very basic instruction of how to create and edit existing filters in GMail.
TLDR
Create Gmail filter:
- Click the checkbox next to the mail you want to create a filter for.
- A new meny opens up, select the "More" icon.
- Select "Filter messages like this".
- Specify the filter triggers.
- Specify the filter actions and click "Create filter" button.
Edit Gmail filter:
- In the top right menu, click the cogwheel to open up the quick setting menu.
- Click "See all settings" to open up a new page.
- In the "Filters and Blocked Addresses" tab you will find all active filters.
- Click the "Edit" text to the far right.
Create a filter
Let's say that you have received an email that you want to filter and move to a specific label. In my case I wanted to filter all Apple Developer emails to my newly created label. There is no option for filters visible when entering the frontpage, so you have to click the checkbox next to the mail you want to create a filter for.
Once the email has been selected, a new meny opens up. Click the "More" icon.
Select "Filter messages like this".
Select the filter triggers.
Select the filter actions.
Edit a filter
In the top right menu, click the cogwheel to open up the quick setting menu. Click "See all settings" to open up a new page.
In the "Filters and Blocked Addresses" tab you will find all active filters. To edit them - click the "Edit" text to the far right.
